LIFE SAFETY

In high-rise and certain other occupancies a Fire Alarm System provides signals to other building systems to provide smoke control and safe paths of egress for occupants. These systems are referred to as Life Safety Systems and provide signals for the following:

• Elevator recall to a smoke-free floor to prevent use in a fire condition
• Opening dampers and starting a dedicated smoke-exhaust system to evacuate smoke from a specific floor or area
• Starting fans to pressurize stairways and elevator shafts to prevent smoke from migrating to other floors or blocking the main path of egress LVC is very experienced in designing and coordinating all aspects of Life Safety Systems.
