EARLY WARNING DETECTION
Early-Warning Detectors are equal to and often better than a human in detecting fire. These systems use a highly discriminating detection chamber. There are two types of Early-Warning Detectors:
- Very Intelligent Early Warning (VIEW) Detectors use a laser light source to greatly improve the sensitivity of spot-type detectors. These units are similar to and used in the same locations as conventional smoke detectors, but are more sensitive. VIEW detectors can share the same circuit as conventional detectors.
- VESDA Air Sampling Detectors are wall-mounted extra-sensitive detection units that are connected to as many as four zones of sampling pipes in the protected space. Holes of pre-determined sizes are drilled into PVC sampling pipe. A pump in the detection unit draws air samples from the holes along each sampling pipe into the detection chamber in a rotating sequence.
The detection unit measurers the visual obstruction level in the sample. Alarm and alert levels can be set to determine sensitivity and allow for benign dust levels that may be present in the protected space.
LVC is experienced in the selection and application of both VIEW detectors and VESDA systems and can consult and advise you as to which is more appropriate for your application.
